Intergenerational visit with Tiny Toes Ballet Carmarthen
Miss Zoe runs our tiny toes ballet Carmarthen franchise and has recenty taken her pupils to their first intergenerational visit at their local care home, with huge success.
"We were so excited to welcome Tiny Toes to Towy Castle for our first of many intergenrational ballet classes. It was lovely to see the residents taking part with the children in a group lesson and getting involved. The feedback was amazing and it certainly put lots of smiles on faces. Not only does it encourage mobility but also allows the residents to relive their childhood and recall memories of when they went to ballet lessons and bring out their youthful side."
TINY TOES BALLET – ENRICHING OUR CHILDREN’S LIVES THROUGH DANCE
Award winning Tiny Toes Ballet is a fun and creative ballet syllabus for babies and young children from 6 months to 7 years old. The classes were launched in Swansea 2011 by primary school teacher, professionally trained Classical ballet dancer and qualified Royal Academy of Dance ballet teacher, Emma Morgan. Tiny Toes is the first ballet programme in the UK that is integrated directly with the Early Years Foundation curriculum
“I passionately believe that any child can understand and learn anything when it is approached from their perspective and taught in a purposeful and meaningful way,” explains Emma. “After having my first baby I saw how he responded to and communicated through movement and music. That’s when I realised there was scope to develop and encourage children to learn and grow through music and dance. So Tiny Toes Ballet was borne and I haven’t looked back since.”
“The quality of the experience is fantastic! For my child there are so many benefits of tiny toes classes; confidence, relationships with adults and children, musicality, physical development and the enjoyment of dance and performance, regardless of ability.” Sarah, Mum of Grace aged 3
Today, there are thirteen Tiny Toes Ballet Schools across the UK from Newcastle to Cornwall, running classes for 1000’s of children every week.
Tiny toes ballet was opened in Carmarthenshire in September 2019 and currently offers classes for children from 6 months to 7 years old in the following locations:
Tuesday afternoons- Carmarthen Library
Saturday mornings- Pontargothi
We also offer a special educational needs programme for children and an intergenerational programme. Furthermore, we offer our programme to private Nurseries and primary schools and often work with the Arts Council of Wales to lead creative projects within mainstream and special needs schools."
